When trying to choose the font for the title of my magazine i had to consider the following points:
- I wanted it to be edgy with attitude but not too over-board.
- It didn't need to be as sophisticated as 'Q' magazines' font as I was trying to lower the median age.
- It had to appeal to women as well as men, (however this could be achieved more through the colour choices)
- I had to be able to fit the tagline 'GET YOUR...' across the bottom left leg of the X, this is shown in my flatplan.
When looking for the font for my title i used the website http://www.dafont.com/themes.php?text=Fix. I then searched through themes such as; 'Eroded', 'Distorted' and 'Graffiti' to help appeal to the target audience whilst sticking to the theme of the magazine. the name of the font I eventually chose for the title was called 'Broken Ghost' and was in the distorted category: http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=108&text=Fix.
For the main sells on the cover I wanted them to be easy to read and in a simpler font contrasting to the title to make it appear mature (as to appeal to the median age of 28), but because I didn't want to to use too many fonts that stand out so I chose 'Trebuchet'.Using the same website I looked at themes such as; type writer and stencil. I then decided on the font 'Travelling typewriter' : http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=113&page=1&nb_ppp_old=10&text=The+Real+Lili+Jackson&nb_ppp=10&psize=s&classt=pop.
